A graduate of the UT School of Law and the University of Texas at Austin, Judge Dimple Malhotra has extensive roots in Austin and has been a public servant in Travis County for well over a decade.

1999-2005: Attorney at Domestic Violence Agencies in Austin, Texas and the SF Bay Area

Her work included obtaining protective orders, custody orders, and child support.

She started a support group for Asian immigrants who suffered from domestic violence, many of whom did not speak English.

She trained law enforcement agencies around the Bay Area on how to respond to domestic violence calls, including cases involving members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

2006-2016: Court Chief of County Court at Law #4 and Chief of the Protective Orders Division at the Travis County Attorney’s Office

Handled misdemeanor domestic violence cases for a decade in County Court at Law 4 where she now presides as judge.

Led the Family Violence Division where she trained and managed a team of Assistant County Attorneys who specialized in family violence cases.

Led the Protective Orders Division.
